Boston Marathon Scare: Our Terrorism Abroad Washes Back Ashore

Boston Marathon Bombing | Boston Marathon Scare

Regardless of who was really behind them and why, chances are the Boston Marathon bombings would not have happened if unconstitutional laws like AUMF 2001 and NDAA 2012 Sec 1021 were not on the books.

)(

Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing killed 3 Americans and wounded more than 170 others. It was clearly an act of terrorism, but as with 9/11 no terrorist organization has thus far claimed responsibility. That’s seen by some as an indication that the act was state-sponsored. If so, what state?

I don’t know who did it. You probably don’t know who did it. And I’m convinced that the fearmongering CNN, Faux News, MSDNC and other mainstream media empty talking heads that started cackling “Al Qaeda! Al Qaeda! Al Qaeda! Homegrown Jihadists! 9/11!” before the dust even settled have no clue either.

Yes, the Boston Marathon Scare – which is how it will be leveraged by the fascist propaganda mouthpieces of our government and the Military Industrial Complex that controls it – is a human tragedy. But it is only one of countless human tragedies, and perhaps for perspective we should view it in comparison to just a few of the other “acts of terrorism” that occurred within a few days of the Beantown bombings:

  • In Afghanistan, a “fierce battle between U.S.-backed Afghan forces and Taliban militants in a remote corner of eastern Afghanistan left nearly 20 people dead, including 11 Afghan children killed in an airstrike… An airstrike in the same district in Kunar that killed 10 civilians in mid-February prompted Karzai to ban his forces from requesting airstrikes (http://mil-com.me/XQKJ6B). “And along with drone attacks, an average of 4.8 children are killed per day in Afghanistan…” (http://bit.ly/YsOrym).
  • In Iraq – where Dubya declared “Mission Accomplished” and which Odrona claims we “left with honor” – “As of midday on Monday, as security officials and medical workers continued to count the dead and wounded, at least 37 people had been killed and more than 140 wounded in nearly 20 separate attacks, mostly car bombings, in Baghdad, Kirkuk, Hilla, Falluja, Nasiriya and Tikrit, according to local officials. The local elections, the first since the withdrawal of the American military at the end of 2011, are being anticipated warily by American diplomats and United Nations officials as a crucial test of Iraq’s shaky democracy” (http://nyti.ms/159GLZ4).
  • In Pakistan, “At least 5 persons were killed and seven others injured when a US drone struck a compound in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) here in Wana on Wednesday. According to details, an unmanned US spy plane fired two missiles at a residential compound located in village Sararogha of Babar Kot in SWA. As a result of missiles strike the compound was destroyed completely resulting in death of 5 people and leaving 7 others injured. It was feared that death toll may rise further as condition of some injured people was also stated to be critical” (http://bit.ly/YTy0zy). U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan are killing 49 innocent civilians – including children – for every 1 “known terrorist” taken out (http://bit.ly/NOthd0).
  • Here at home, “Almost once every hour a U.S. military veteran takes his or her life. The Department of Veterans Affairs reports that 22 veterans commit suicide every day, on average. Austin veteran Andrew O’Brien almost become one of them. He survived a suicide attempt in 2010, after returning from a 12-month deployment to Iraq. Now he’s telling his story to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder and military suicides” (http://bit.ly/110Kumb).

For decades America’s false and failed “nationbuilding” efforts have spread death, destruction and moral decay more so than “democracy”. American drone, missile and bomb strikes are now terrorizing, maiming and killing innocent civilians and children in unprecedented numbers, and America’s military forces are losing more troops to guilt- and depression-related suicides than they are to enemy forces that the American government itself is funding. It should come as no surprise, consequently, that the insanity and inhumanity our perpetual wars for oil and profit are proliferating overseas would make their way back to our shores.

Regardless of who was really behind the Boston Marathon attack – and regardless of whether their motive was payback for years of murder and mayhem or psyop propaganda to convince you to sacrifice Social Security that’s real for National Security that isn’t – one thing is certain: On Monday 15 April 2013 the citizens of Boston got a very small taste of the death and destruction America delivers daily around the world, the principal and questionable legal justification for which is the post 9/11 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force. Pass H.R. 198 to repeal it, and we’ll all be in a safer place. AUMF Hunger Striker IronBoltBruce has fasted for 22 days, lost 31 pounds and much of his strength in hopes of raising awareness and rallying support to make that happen (http://RepealAUMF.org).

And you?

AUMF Hunger Strike Enters 15th Day

)(

Demanding the repeal of the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), one American grandfather vows he’d rather die of a hunger strike than see his grandchildren die of a drone strike.

)(

The hunger strike of the human rights and civil liberties activist known as IronBoltBruce entered Day 15 at 6:00am ET on Wednesday 10 April 2013. The record-holding long distance motorcycle rider has eaten nothing since his fast began on 27 March and declares “I have lost 23 pounds and some of my strength but none of my resolve to see AUMF 2001 repealed and my grandchildren saved.”

His seminal act has initiated the “AUMF Hunger Strike” – Twitter hashtag #AumfHungerStrike – the singular demand of which is the repeal of Public Law 107-40, the Authorization for Use of Military Force Act signed into law by George W. Bush on 18 September 2001. Enacted just seven days after the attacks of 9/11, “AUMF 2001″ gave the President sweeping and essentially unchecked powers to wage a global war of vengeance against the alleged perpetrators. Specifically, the President was and is “…authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.”

Over the ensuing 11 years, the AUMF 2001 carte blanche has served as the legal justification for a number of controversial military and government actions both abroad and at home, and by both President Bush and President Obama. Both administrations asserted AUMF as their authority to violate the sovereignty of nations with which we are not at war and conduct drone strikes which in Pakistan, for example, are reportedly killing 49 innocent civilians – including children – for every 1 “known terrorist” taken out. When on Valentine’s Day 2012 Obama signed “H.R.658 FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012″ into law as Public Law 112-95 he authorized the use of drones in American airspace, and whether under AUMF 2001 that authority extends to the government execution of domestic airstrikes against American citizens was the focus of Senator Rand Paul’s widely publicized 12-hour filibuster last month.

Also here at home, AUMF 2001 serves as the statutory basis for Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2012, or “NDAA 2012″, signed into law by Barack Obama on New Year’s Eve 2011 as Public Law 112-81. Known also as the “Homeland Battlefield” or “Indefinite Detention” provision, it gives the federal goverment “police state” authority to detain without charge and hold without trial American citizens on American soil, effectively nullifying the protection of habeas corpus and overriding the Bill of Rights. NDAA 2012 Section 1021 is being contested as unconstitutional in federal court by a group of activists headed by Pultizer Prize winner Chris Hedges, but for now it remains law.

An American citizen and grandfather concerned about the future and freedom of his grandchildren, IronBoltBruce committed to the AUMF Hunger Strike in hopes of raising public awareness of the threats to life and liberty posed by AUMF 2001 and NDAA 2012. The repeal of AUMF will undo NDAA, and that is what the AUMF Hunger Strike demands. Congresswoman Barbara Lee – the only U.S. Representative to vote against the 2001 AUMF – recently sponsored H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force, the passage and enactment of which would satisfy AUMF Hunger Strikers like IronBoltBruce. Unless more concerned citizens participate in the hunger strike and support RepealAUMF.org (@RepealAUMFNow) in order to inspire a groundswell of grassroots political and direct action, however, GovTrack.us gives H.R. 198 a “2% chance of getting past committee” and a “0% chance of being enacted.”

“The United States Government has ‘aligned itself with Al Qaeda’ in Syria and elsewhere, Senator Graham. So as per your guidance, who do we detain without charge under NDAA 2012, and who do we execute without trial under AUMF 2001? Should we start with President Obama, or you?”

Authorization for Use of Military Force … On YOU

)(

AUMF 2001 (PL 107-40) did not target the “terrorists” behind the 9/11 attacks. Its target was and is the taxpaying American citizen. Here are the only two ways to take yourself out of the crosshairs.

)(

If you ask most Americans how many World Trade Center towers were demolished on 9/11, they’ll say 2. The correct answer is 3. If you remind them that WTC-7 came down as well as WTC-1 and WTC-2, and then ask them how many World Trade Center towers were struck by airplanes or seriously damaged by debris, they’ll usually say 3. The correct answer is 2. Remind them of THAT, however, and you are immediately labelled a 9/11 truther or conspiracy nut.

The “truth” may well be, however, that most Americans simply don’t want to think about what really happened at World Trade Center 7 and elsewhere on 11 September 2001 because it forces them to question either (a) the laws of physics and logic or (b) what they were told happened by their government. The cognitive dissonance generated is too much for their media-brainwashed minds to handle, so they block it out and you along with it.

The “truth” is that many things happened before, on and after 9/11 that we have been encouraged – if not programmed – to forget. One is the “Authorization for Use of Military Force” signed into law by Dubya on 18 September 2001 as Public Law 107-40. Allegedly intended to authorize retaliation against the “9/11 terrorists” – and not unlike the 1933 Enabling Act that paved the way for Adolf Hitler to become dictator of Nazi Germany – this brief resolution gave our President carte blanche authority that has been used, abused and expanded over the past 11 years to the point where the “Imperial Presidency” of Barack Obama now claims the power to kill anyone anywhere – including American citizens on American soil – without the approval of Congress, and without due process of law.

That alone should be sufficient reason for We the People to rise up and demand repeal of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (aka “AUMF 2001″, “AUMF”, or on Twitter “#AUMF”). But the evil of this unconstitutional foundation for a fascist police state doesn’t end there: AUMF 2001 is also the asserted legal basis for Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 signed into law by Odrona on 31 December 2011 as Public Law 112-81. This “Homeland Battlefield” provision gives the federal government authority to detain without charge and hold indefinitely without trial American citizens on American soil – the same “indefinite detention” applied to prisoners at Guantanamo – which nullifies habeas corpus and overrides the Bill of Rights.

IF WE REPEAL AUMF 2001 WE ALSO UNDO NDAA 2012. Passing and signing into law intact “H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force” – not to be confused with other H.R. 198′s from prior Congressional sessions – will do just that. And as a not-so-small added benefit, passing H.R. 198 will force the child-murdering Nobel Peace Prize pretender in the White House to bring down his drones and end the perpetual global “War on Terrorism” – which has never been anything more than an excuse for the Military Industrial Complex to deplete the U.S. Treasury, with the costs of war in Afghanistan and Iraq alone approaching $6 trillion, which accounts for over 35% of our national debt and amounts to over $19,000 for every man, woman and child in America.

In TwitterSpeak, all we have to do is pass #HR198 to #RepealAUMF and we reign in the unconstitutional #AUMF #ImperialPresidency, undo #NDAA #IndefiniteDetention, bring down the unacceptably inhumane #drones, end the unaffordably insane #GWOT and force the unimaginably greedy #MilitaryIndustrialComplex to stop depleting an already-drained #USTreasury and running up the #USDebt. Who wouldn’t want to do that?

Just about everybody on Wall Street (Greed Central), K Street (Lobbyist Lane), in Congress (Corporate Fascist Puppets Left and Right) and at the White House (Office of the Corporate Fascist Puppet-in-Chief). That’s who.

Sponsored by Congresswoman Barbara Lee (@RepBarbaraLee) – the only U.S. Representative to vote against AUMF in 2001 – H.R. 198 has only 8 co-sponsors at present and is currently stalled in the House Foreign Affairs Committee (@HFACrepublicans). Pundits give H.R. 198 a zero chance of passage and here is why:

  • The Democratic Party doesn’t want to repeal AUMF 2001 because it will take away power that their figurehead leader Barack Obama is fighting Chris Hedges et al in federal court to keep.
  • The Republican Party doesn’t want to repeal AUMF 2001 because they get to cash in on that power when they rotate back into the White House. And it truly is a staged rotation: of the last 14 U.S. Presidents 7 have been Democrats and 7 Republicans.
  • Lockheed-Martin and the other corrupt fat cat defense contractors comprising the rotten core of the Military Industrial Complex don’t want to repeal AUMF 2001 because ending our endless wars will cost them trillions in future revenues. Their legions of lobbyists stand to lose big bucks as well.
  • Bankers on Wall Street and worldwide thrive on interest. Interest is generated by debt. More debt means more interest. And as the tally about reflects, nothing creates more debt faster than war: debt to make the weapons, debt to buy the weapons, debt to wage the war, and debt to recover from war’s awful toll of death and destruction. Like all wars, the War on Terrorism is a bankers’ war. Obviously the banksters would not want to see it ended by the passage of H.R. 198 and repeal of AUMF 2001.

The “truth” is that the real target of the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force was not Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda or any other “terrorists” real or contrived. The real target of the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force was and is YOU, the American citizen and taxpayer. There are only two ways to take yourself out of the crosshairs:

  1. Join us in the AUMF Hunger Strike (#AumfHungerStrike) to (a) awaken 100 million Americans now living in poverty and as many of the self-absorbed and techno-stupefied Sheeple as we can, and (b) inspire them to take direct action to demand action by their Senators and Representives to pass H.R. 198 over the cries of the war profiteers and their lobbyists as well as an almost certain veto by Odrona; or
  2. Do what you know Thomas Jefferson would recommend we do…

“The 99%” Redefined: 99 Percent of Americans Know Little About the Dangers of AUMF 2001 & NDAA 2012

According to an #AumfHungerStrike activist 99% of Americans have no idea they can be detained indefinitely without charge under NDAA 2012 Section 1021, and then executed without trial under AUMF 2001.

)(

American grandfather, long distance rider, civil liberties Jeffersonian and AUMF Hunger Striker IronBoltBruce conservatively estimates that (a) 90 percent of the American public are unaware they can be indefinitely detained without charge or trial under NDAA 2012 Section 1021 (Public Law 112-81), and (b) 90 percent of those are unaware they can be executed without due process of law under AUMF 2001 (Public Law 107-40, the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force). If accurate that means (a) only 1 in 100 Americans are aware of their potential loss of life or liberty under these fascist and unconstitutional Bill of Rights and habeas corpus nullifications, and (b) the deer-in-the-headlights obliviousness of the remainder of our citizens provides a whole new definition for “The 99 Percent”.

The legality of the NDAA 2012 indefinite detention provisions is dependent upon the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force. If we repeal AUMF, we undo NDAA at the same time. H.R. 198 is proposed legislation that will do just that. The bill will also bring an end to over 11 years of a so-called “War on Terrorism” that has generated trillions in revenues for defense contractors and the banksters behind the curtains at the cost of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives abroad and a bankrupted Treasury at home. It stands to reason, then, that these corporate interests may go to any lengths – including payoffs, psyops and perhaps even black ops – to prevent the passage of any legislation that might kill the war profiteering cash cow of our Military Industrial Complex.

Passing H.R. 198 intact or otherwise repealing AUMF 2001 will not be an easy battle, but it is a battle that We the People must fight – if not for our own sake, then for the freedom and future of our children and grandchildren. To win that battle, we will have to overcome powerful banking, defense, intelligence, counterterrorism and homeland security lobbies by making their puppet politicians in Washington more afraid of losing control of the country than they are of losing the corporate cash flowing into their personal coffers. That will require a resurgence of Sixties-style in-the-streets IRL activism which we can generate by mobilizing the 100 million Americans now living in poverty and waking up as many of the rest as we can. They cannot be aware without also being angry, and to raise that awareness we have initiated a nationwide AUMF Hunger Strike for which we need not only your support but your participation. AUMF Hunger Strike Called to Demand Repeal of 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force

AUMF Hunger Strike #AumfHungerStrike

Veteran rights activist calls on American grandparents and other concerned citizens to join #AumfHungerStrike, a nationwide hunger strike to last until AUMF 2001, the post-9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force, is repealed.

)(

At 6:00am ET on 27 March 2013 world record holding long distance motorcycle rider and lifelong civil liberties activist IronBoltBruce began a fast that will not end – in his words – “…until AUMF 2001 is gone or I am.”

Through his Twitter account @RepealAUMF2001 he is asking other American grandparents concerned about the future and freedom of their grandchildren to join his hunger strike demanding passage of “H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force” which will (a) repeal #AUMF 2001 (Public Law 107-40), and thereby (b) end the 11+ year global “War on Terrorism” or #GWOT that has resulted in the deaths by drone strikes and other means of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians including children in a growing list of 20 countries, as well as (c) remove the legal justification for Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (Public Law 112-81) – also known as the “Homeland Battlefield” or #IndefiniteDetention provisions of #NDAA 2012 – under which the federal government can use military force to detain and hold indefinitely without charge or trial American citizens on American soil.

“There may always be questions and debate about who really did what on 11 September 2001 and why,” he stated, “but there can be no debate about our nation’s accelerating descent from freedom to fascism – from democracy to despotism – since that ‘catastrophic and catalyzing event‘. Fearing enemies real or contrived, from 9/11 forward the American people have allowed life and liberty to be legislated away in exchange for so-called security. NDAA 2012 gives our government the right to detain us without charge, and under AUMF 2001 an Imperial Presidency that arose under George W. Bush to be expanded by Barack Obama now claims the power to kill us – by drones or otherwise – without due process of law. I want my grandchildren to grow up in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. But so long as AUMF 2001 is law, America is neither. I intend to change that or die trying.”

Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) was the only member of Congress to vote against AUMF in 2001 and recently sponsored H.R.198 to repeal it. Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC) and other representatives have signed on as co-sponsors, but barring a groundswell of bipartisan support GovTrack.US gives #HR198 a “2% chance of getting past committee” and a “0% chance of being enacted.” Such a groundswell would fly in the face of Military Industrial Complex and Top Secret America corporate interests who stand to lose trillions in revenues if AUMF 2001 is repealed and will gladly pour billions into anonymous political action committees, campaign contributions and lobbying to maintain the status quo (see also the POGO Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD), OpenSecrets.org and InfluenceExplorer.com.) IronBoltBruce understands, consequently, that the only way to motivate both Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate to repeal AUMF 2001 is to mount a united nonpartisan grassroots effort to make the politicians of both parties fear the loss of votes from their constituents more so than the loss of cash from their corporate benefactors. He hopes – and may be betting his life – that his nationwide #AumfHungerStrike will serve as the “catalyzing event” for that campaign.

Grandparents and others with the courage and conviction to participate in the AUMF hunger strike are urged to (a) commence their fast as soon as possible, (b) email their commitment and regular status to RepealAUMF@riseup.net, and most importantly (c) make sure that their U.S. Senators, U.S. Representative, the local and national media, and all of their friends, followers and contacts know what they are doing and why. AUMF 2001 Imperial Presidency Is The Disease. NDAA 2012 Indefinite Detention Is Only One Symptom.

AUMF 2001 | NDAA 2012

)(

The post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force is at the root of many evils including an Imperial Presidency, unconscionable drone strikes and unconstitutional indefinite detention under NDAA 2012.

)(

We have been calling on you to rise up against the indefinite detention provisions of NDAA 2012 since corporate fascist puppet Democratic president Barack Obama signed it into law on New Year’s Eve 2011.

WE HAVE BEEN WRONG.

NDAA 2012 is only one symptom. AUMF 2001 is the disease.

The primary legal foundation of “Homeland Battlefield” provisions for the indefinite detention without charge or trial of American citizens on American soil codified as Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2012 (P.L. 112-81) is the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force (P.L. 107-40) – a.k.a. “AUMF 2001″ or simply “AUMF” – signed into law by corporate fascist puppet Republican president George W. Bush in September of 2001. So if we repeal AUMF 2001, these indefinite detention provisions will have no legal standing.

On 13 January 2012 seven fearless civil liberties activists – Chris Hedges, Daniel Ellsberg, Noam Chomsky, Birgitta Jónsdóttir, Jennifer “Tangerine” Bolen, Kai Wargalla and Alexa O’Brien – filed suit against Barack Obama et al seeking to block enforcement of the NDAA 2012 indefinite detention provisions:

http://StopNDAA.org

On 12 September 2012 U.S. District Court Judge Katherine Forrest granted the plaintiffs request by issuing a permanent injunction that declared NDAA 2012 Section 1021(b)(2) unconstitutional. Then – quite contrary to Obamapologist propaganda on Twitter that “The President Doesn’t Really Want This Power: The Truth About AUMF and NDAA” – the Obama regime immediately appealed the decision and on 2 October 2012 the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the ban on indefinite detention will not go into effect until a decision on the regime’s appeal is rendered. On 19 February 2013 the U.S. Supreme Court denied a counter appeal by Hedges et al to vacate the Appeals Court ruling, so as of this writing – and in yet another Orwellian paradox – the U.S. government can “legally” detain its citizens indefinitely without charge, without trial, and without regard to habeus corpus or what we once knew as the “due process of law”.

UNLESS AND UNTIL, of course, NDAA 2012 Section 1021 is made null and void. That can happen one of three ways:

  • By Hedges et al ultimately prevailing in their Stop NDAA lawsuit, which given the current composition of our corporate-controlled “Citizens United” Supreme Court is sadly unlikely.
  • By nullification at the state and local level, which is a piecemeal solution based on the questionable premise that state and local authorities “not cooperating” with the Feds will stop them.
  • By passing H.R. 198 to repeal AUMF 2001, which pulls the legal rug out from under not only indefinite detention but also domestic drone strikes and the “Imperial Presidency” behind it all:

For once, stop letting the powers-that-be use social wedge issues and labels like Democrat/Liberal/Left or Republican/Conservative/Right to divide us when undoing AUMF 2001 and NDAA 2012 should unite us. And for once, stop squabbling over your tribe’s slice of the rights pie while the size of the pie we all share shrinks to nothing…
